I agree with all of the replies posted so far. The first week of June will be very busy, due to the Whit Sunday / Whit Monday holiday on June 4-5: there will be school holidays in most of Europe, and people do travel around. However, it will still be much better than August! I would definitely chose late Spring over mid-summer!
