The assumption I'm making here is that you are asking if somewhere, someone in BA had the thought to make a programming change to their computer systems to achieve the above effect. (Certainly they don't have Doris in accounting checking the passenger manifest against status listings and blocking seats!)
In any case, I have to admit that I almost burst out laughing. Given all the problems with ba.com/catering/strikes, etc. would BA spend a nanosecond thinking about such a programming change?
Don't get me wrong, I love BA, but I can't honestly imagine that they really give a rats a$$ whether or not you're seated next to someone or not. I think they've realized long ago that it's far cheaper to wait for someone to complain (which lets face it, in this case it isn't very likely) and then hand out worthless mileage to placate them. Works every time!
