If I were 5k away I'd do it... I'm 16k and have decided not to (unless of course there were some unexpected error Z fare perhaps).

Out of EWR, try seaching for flights from PHL. I've seen some insane routings from phl to various Florida destinations some of which would yield 5k for under $200. Some have been posted in other threads - but they change often so you really need to search for fares. As noted, the MR forum would be your best bet for help there & learning about the various tools available.

You could also consider EWR-BRS - there's a thread about that, too.
