It just allows you to get to the EXP AAngel quicker.
I remember how annoying the "repeat" process was, and I find the quickness of connecting to the EXP desk a very nice perk.
The agent I spoke with asked my name; that wasn't the name she had on the computer screen, I wasn't even talking to executive plat agent. The key-pad method mentioned in another post is probably a good solution.
