I'm based in the UK, but I've never heard about this "Winterval" nonsense mentioned by gsnichol - it's definitely CHRISTMAS here, and we tend to joke about the American "Happy Holidays".
One of my local shops is run by a Hindu family, and I remember going in there one Christmas Eve, and hearing the person in front of me saying "Happy Christmas" as she paid for her goods. When it was my turn to pay I said something like "Should I be saying Happy Christmas?", and he replied "Of course we celebrate Christmas - the kids wouldn't forgive us if we didn't. And of course we celebrate Divali too, so our kids get the best of both worlds".
I don't think any other European countries have replaced "Christmas" by "Holidays" either - I have friends in all sorts of places, and their Christmas cards all say Weihnachten/Noel/Kerstmis/Jul/Navidad etc!
