It's not a nuance, it is a standard feature. Book a flight from A-B and you get the miles for A-B. It does have good features too... When doing a Platinum lack of Challenge , it can come in v useful for example; book LHR-SYD ( via BKK ) in a 1.0/1.5 qpoint per mile booking class and rather than get the single miles for LHR-BKK and then double miles from BKK-LHR , since it was a single flight , get the double miles for the whole journey
