The Fairmont Waterfront, Fairmont Hotel Vancouver, Pan Pacific, Metropolitan, Opus, Sutton Place and Four Seasons are, on the whole, considered to be the best hotels in Vancouver. Most people tend to rank the Fairmont Waterfront and Opus Hotel as having the best physical plant while the Four Seasons, in dire need of renovation, offer the best service.

With the Convention Centre expansion construction immediately in front of the Fairmont Waterfront and adjacent to the Pan Pacific the noise levels may be inconvenient.

The Opus Hotel is in "trendy" Yaletown while the Met, FS, Hotel Vancouver and Sutton Place are all convenient to shopping. The FS is connected to Pacific Centre shopping mall.
