I must admit that I am guilty of doing this a few times myself. Sometimes when flights cancel and you have short notice rebookings via different transit points, there is no way to let the person you are supposed to meet know that things have gone pear shaped. I usually try to dash off an email but often the person doesnt retrieve that until they have already waited a few hours and given up on me.
