It really does depend on your personal circumstances.We bought into the hilton club new york 3 years ago as we knew our son would be moving to New York.We knew that we would be spending some time there.I did the sums and figured if I wrote off the capital expense over 10 years and added in the maintenance fees that I would pay $US300 per night for a 1 bedroom suite in NYC for the next 10 years and for 20 years after that the price would be less.We are already ahead.
Added to that was 30 years of goldHH-which is close enough to life for me.For us this was definitely a good buy.HGVC on the other hand would make absolutely no sense.Besides we can still participate in the last minute cash deals at HGVC.
So you have to ask what do I want to be doing over the next 10-20 years and do your own sums.
