While it doesn't take an immense amount of time and effort (as it shouldn't - the point isn't to make it like getting AA EXP by March of the calendar year) it does take more time and effort than an airline rep or a newsman or a lurker from fatwallet would care to expend. Also, mods are usually pretty good about watching out for "post-padding" by new members just looking to get in CC by all indications.
