I think UA definitely sees a potential business value on these upcoming 2Ps, hoping that with the gift of status, atleast some of them will consider flying more regularly on UA. A friend will also be receiving my gift after I finally convinced him to leave NW for a while . His addition to the 2P pool definitely swells up the elite pool, but his upcoming additional business towards UA, could only affect UA positively overall.

As for the value of these 2P gifts, well, I consider E+ access as the number one benefit for this level, and we all know one could buy a year access now for about $300, so the trading value noted in the OP is what I would personally consider fair trade.
