I wasn't aware of this when I booked... is this indeed the case? Is there a way to change date without having to cancel and re-issue the ticket?
Do you have a copy of the rules? There is a link in one of the stickies at the top of this Forum.

In Rule 16 ('Penalties'), part A ('Changes'), section 1 ('Before departure') it says: 'For travel originating worldwide except in Canada/Mexico/US. Permitted.' That would seem to suggest that what you want is possible.

However, in 16-A section 2 ('After departure') it says 'For travel originating in SWP: (a) No changes permitted on remaining outbound sectors up to and including first international sector.' This is perhaps why they are refusing to let you change.

You might want to point out to them that since your first sector is your first international sector, until you take that flight your status is 'before departure' and not 'remaining outbound sectors'. Thus 16-A-1 should apply rather than 16-A-2.

cheers,
