Just to clear up some earlier questions...
Generally-speaking, Le Meridien will become a separate brand under Starwood Hotels & Resorts Worldwide; however, individual hotels and resorts might find themselves re-branded if management sees a necessity to do so.
Regarding the stays and nights questions related to earning status, shortly after December 31, 2005, we will take a look at the number of accumulated stays and nights a member may have had with both programs and determine what status level you will be beginning March 1, 2006 by adding up the stays and nights with both programs. Any stays between January 1 - March 17, 2006 that are applied to your Moments account, will be transferred over to your Starwood Preferred Guest account to qualify for status in 2007, so nothing will be lost.
As far as I can determine, none of the Nikko properties are involved in any of this. They did not participate in Moments either, so I anticipate that they will also not participate in Starwood Preferred Guest unless that comes down the pike in some other fashion. Take a look at the current list of Moments-participating properties and you will get at least a snapshot of who may be coming over. Those that are participating currently will participate in SPG. Those that are not, will not be. Of course, there are franchisee and management contracts that may ultimately control the final number that make the migration as of March 17th, so no guarantees until it is a done deal.
