Inflight service is an entirely different matter and totally unrelated to airport design. The Polderbaan, however, is the one major shortcoming of AMS.
My apologies for going even more off topic. . I have been flying too much the last few days, flying AF, KL, AZ and even having to fly my second ever LCC segment with EZY from SXF (a rather drab airport) to ORY.

I did find AMS good for the communication centres ^ , its shops and its neatness. I found it surprisingly average for connecting from a B gate, arriving from NCE and going on to MAD via a distant D gate, just as I found it a bit of a hassle to go from a C gate arriving from CDG, to the lounge in the D gate area, just to go back to a lower B gate to go on CityHopper to connect to TXL.

You are right, inflight service is a separate issue and I will take it up in another thread, when I get to settle down a bit.
