I suggested in a recent BA survey I was mailed (alongside "show us the bloody fare codes" ) two things related to EC awards:

1) Extra availability in all cabins for Golds, just like we get in poxy Economy already (not sure how this would be easily policed though, since it works in Y with so many fare letters to "convert")

2) Rolling extra availability opening up closer to departure for last-minute upgrades (sounds a bit AA I know) whereby PREM/Gold get access to any A/D/I/T class still being sold to convert to Z/U/P awards for MFU purposes at 3 days before, then Silver at 2 days before then Blue at 1 day before.

I think SLF and I came up with an interesting twist for redemption 'conditions' on this thread too earlier
