Short answer IMHO - yes, it's a decent hotel, it's immediately adjacent to LAX and the 405 and 105 freeways so you can get to pretty much anywhere in greater LA easily (if not always quickly, depending on traffic). Public transportation in LA, IMHO, is very close to useless for the visitor - you need to rent a car or (a distant second choice due to the cost) take taxis.
