). Select least harrassed looking check in agent. Smile huge amounts.... and blag as if your life depended on it! Worst case scenario is parents think high class executive son has NO cred at all... but then most parents still think we are all 9 years old anyway!
Alternatively flash Gold card at suitable looking BA person and ask if you can do a BA Miles upgrade on the day (which you can't) but they might take pity on you to 'see what they can do'. At least this approach shows you are not asking for a freebie. Though you must love parents dearly to make the ultimate sacrifice of giving up BA Miles for them.
