In case the double EQM doesnt work out for you: Instead of SFO -> wherever you're going, start your R/T flight from SMF off to SFO (87 miles). The 1000 extra EQM may allow you for a cheaper MR flight somewhere else. I sometimes do this when I'm on the road and the fare difference is minimal, although I book through a corporate website....Good luck!
