Thanksgiving mini-report
Just got back from a Thanksgiving night stay at the HGI Napa...and I have to say agree with the others that this property is really nice. I booked 2 rooms on the AAA rate and they were both upgraded to whirlpool suites the day before we arrived. These rooms were huge. They were so large that they seemed under-furnished. The bathrooms with the whirlpool tubs rivaled bathrooms in some Vegas hotels. At check-in we received the $5 coupons and breakfast certs for both rooms. The certs were for continental breakfast but they covered the hot breakfast too.
The staff here was really nice and very helpful. In the lobby they have a fireplace and a widescreen TV. The bar leaves something to be desired, but what can you expect at a HGI?
We had Thanksgiving dinner at Brix in Yountville and it was amazing. Also the Marriott next door to the HGI had a nice spa that barely had anyone there the day after T-giving. I never saw another person in the changing room, steam room, or whirlpool.
I would recommed this hotel if you were going to either Sonoma or Napa. It's really close to both areas..unlike the Doubletree in Rohnert Park, which is another story in itself, although it's a very nice property.
