If you really have loads and loads of miles, you can redeem them for a oneworld award. This is an award based on the number of miles flown.
4,001 – 9,000 60,000
As with all awards, if you want to travel in business class, you need to multiply the miles you need by 2x, and if you want to travel in first, by 3x.

oneworld awards using American Airlines miles
Total Countable Trip Miles = 4,001 - 9,000
Economy: costs 60,000 AA miles
Business: costs 80,000 AA miles
First: costs 100,000 AA miles

Am I correct in what seems obvious? BA miles are inferior to AA miles when it comes to redeeming OW awards.
Yes - for redemption with a pile of miles in AAdvantage you are right.

If BA97.com wasn't sunning himself in Auckland as we speak I am sure he would give you the low down on this. Afterall, his AAdvantage promotional bonus miles got him from London to Auckland on a mixture of carriers including BA and Cathay Pacific.
