Here's the Atlanta rundown

Okay, no more Backstreet (never been) or Metro (just closed, no biggie). However, Atlanta isn't too bad. Here are the major clumps of bars (where you can walk from one to the other, in case you aren't happy):

MIDTOWN:
-Blake's (10th/Piedmont)
Something of a younger crowd, but generally pretty mixed. One of the more popular.
-Halo (817 West Peachtree St NW)
Pretty damn classy. Only gay on Thursdays.
-Bulldogs (Peachtree Street)
Friendly, mostly African American guys.
-Armory (behind Peachtree street)
Big bar right behind where Backstreet used to be. Quite often empty, it seems. But I haven't been for a long time, so maybe it picked up.
-Wet Bar (not really walking distance from the others)
This place is nice...they just redid it, so there is a new outdoor area, rotating dance floor---all that stuff. I was annoyed and intrigued by the $10 cover--kind of rare in Atlanta. But they are trying to do something different, and maybe it will work for them. They just put a ton of cash into the place, so who can blame them. By the way, parking is valet only. If you drink too much and have to pick your car up the next day, they'll put it someplace safe for you and it won't be an issue.

ANSLEY (Piedmont/Monroe area gay strip mall):
-Burkhart's
Mixed crowd. Large place with 3 bars, pool, outdoor area.
-Oscar's (I may be confusing this with Felix's, which is next door)
A video bar. Loud. Super clean bathroom!
-Felix's
A local bar. Very friendly.

PONCE DE LEON (I don't recommend this area):
-Eagle
Leather type bar. Not my scene, so I find it a bit uncomfortable there. Smells funky.
-Friends
Depressing and filled with people who look like they're taking a break from hustling quarters. Too bad, because it's a cool looking place, but I've never been able to finish a beer there. Something tells me to head for the door immediately.
-Some other bar which name I forget
This one is across from Eagle, and it is known as a place to pick up low-end middle age prostitutes. Friggin repulsive, and, as you might guess, is rumored to be close to shutting down. No tears here.

AMSTERDAM WALK (Walking mall off of Monroe/Amsterdam)
-Miss Q's
Very friendly with pool, darts, and football. You would think it wasn't a gay bar just from looking, as it has a fair mix of girls & guys, but it really is. I go there a lot. It's not cruisy at all, but its fun. Occasionally (this has happened to me twice now), a parade of middle-aged transexuals will walk in and it will never be explained. It's sort of a train wreck that you don't want to look at, but just can't help yourself.
-Red Chair
Big, nice bar that can get quite busy. It's either totally full of lesbians, or gay guys. Sometimes, it's both, and they separate into two different rooms. In the same mall as MissQ's, so you can wander between. No smoking inside, but there's a little outside area.

CHESHIRE BRIDGE ROAD
-Heretic
Kind of sleazy place. Can be cool on the weekend, but also can be uncool. You may find your ... getting an unsolicited squeeze from an elderly gentleman. It smells a bit, but not too horrid.
-Jungle
I never seem to go on the right nights, but people say good things.

Hope that helps!
