I purchased 3 tix on Expedia, Cathay Airlines, from LAX to New Dehli, India for this spring, total "Special Fare" cost if $1,345 each totaling over $4000. Turns out the fares were non-changeable, non-refundable, etc. You guessed it, my wife now has a problem with work and we need to change the dates.

I have found alternative dates with the exact same fare, terms, conditions, etc on different dates a couple of weeks later. You'd think that, by offering to buy the tix for the new dates at the same terms, price, and still 5 months away, that Expedia would see the good customer relations sense of just letting us change. You'd be wrong if you did. I talked to phone operator and sup and both said there's nothing they can do. I offered to pay a change fee, but still no can do.

It blows my mind to think that Exp will be able to eat my $4k and I still have to buy another ticket. I also called Cathay to see what they can do, they won't change b/c it's Expedia's ticket. Any suggestions? Should I keep bugging Cathay? Should I keep calling expedia? Both? Is there a way to get higher up the Expedia ladder to someone who can make the change?
