In the <sigh> decades I have lived in Atlanta, there has always been at least one after hours club. If one would close, then another club would somehow become "a private, non-profit" (yeah, right) organization to get an after hours license. Backstreet was the latest of that genre.
Midtown Atlanta, which used to by synonymous with "gay" has had exposive growth with a lot new condo construction and a lot of non-gay residents moving in. Pressure from the new neighborhoods meant that the city could no longer turn another cheek to the partying as they did in the past.
Right now, there is a void for an after hours club, but I'm sure it will be filled. My bets are that it won't be in Midtown.
