Sorry to be unclear. It is the US government (not the Korean government) that is requiring the paper ticket to apply for a visa. I have invited friends from other countries before, and an e-ticket has been fine for all of them, which is why I mentioned that he is coming from Korea. I am just pretty frustrated at all these constantly increasing United fees. I know they have some fees associated with printing paper tickets and I do understand the desire to recover these costs. I just refuse to believe that the card stock and ink required to print a ticket can cost anywhere near the $50 they are now charging!

Also, for what it is worth, I am a 1K (I saw someone who is GS and 1K posting that he had a paper ticket issued without fees). I was told that since the ticket I am issuing is not for me I still need to pay the fee, so while the voucher was earned by a 1K (me) I am using it for someone with no status. I don't really care much when it is a $10 fee for something, but this just seemed too high.
