Slightly OT but can anyone tell me why these mail in rebates are so popular (or so it would seem) in America? I have always been very frustrated at seeing these when in the USA. Obvioulsy, as a visitor, it makes items so cheap but I can't take advantage of the rebates as I live in the UK.
Because a large percentage will forget to send them in, will send them in incorrectly or will get "lost" in the mail.
Plus; it is a way for the vendor to give a discount and be sure that the reseller will not steal that discount and sell it for regular retail price.
