L-1011 departure delays for repairs
About 1 in 3 of my recent flights on L-1011s, including today's DL 53 from ATL to HNL, have had delayed departures due to repairs. Today's delay at A25 at Hartsfield was 50 minutes, of which 25 minutes was made up on the 8.5 hour flight. It's a strange feeling when you recognize the aircraft by the dents, re-caulking, and other oddities in the interior. Today I was on ship no. Nxxx43, the one that aborted take-off in HNL about 2 years ago. The 764s are badly needed.
Postscript. The cabin crew in F today were the best I have ever had. I learned that Norma, the most senior FA in human history (she has been with Delta since they were DC-3s in MSY land, 50+ years, no mandatory retirement age for DL FAs), changed from being based at NRT for the last 5 years and in on domestic flights again.
