TG996 is always a 747-400, the question is whether it has in-seat video and slightly more legroom or not. I find the easiest way to tell is the last row in Business Class is 26 if it's new style and 27 if it's old style. As for food - TG's food seems to depend on the port of origin and for some reason the TG menu out of Bangkok is always the worst. Why that should be so I'm not sure
