The rep I spoke to asked why I was cancelling my reservation, and I said that I had been informed that the hotel would not be honoring the rate, and so I wasn't going to go and wished to cancel. The rep spent at least 10 minutes assuring me that "they will honor the rate. We will make them." In the end, she strongly recommended that I not cancel, and was so convincing that I didn't cancel the reservation. I am going to call back again and try to talk to someone higher-up though, because I didn't get the sense that this rep understood how cheap of a rate this was and that it might have been offered by mistake.
If only all agencies took customer relations as seriously as Travelocity does. When I book at Travelocity, I feel safe. Major props to Travelocity for consistently standing on the customer's side ^
