The way you are defining it -- which must be how they are now defining it -- the meal determination must now be based on solely on takeoff time, with an exception for transcons?
My impression has always been that the meal was determined by departure time. AA1940 (RNO-ORD), for example, which operates 11:15am-5:03pm, is listed as a snack, even though the flight time completely encompasses the lunch window. And AA466 (RNO-DFW), conversely, is listed as being a lunch flight because it doesn't take off until 12:12pm.
