The biggest difference is that the E5 has dual drivers (with a crossover) in the earpiece, instead of a single driver. You get better frequency response, better sensitivity, and a wider dynamic range. Plus, the E5 is on the "pro" end of their earphone line. It's not uncommon for touring musicians to wear the E5 as an in-ear monitor while performing on stage.
