Are these reservations or prepaid bookings? Hopefully we can get some coupons out of the deal, because I really don't want to go there. Even if somebody gave me a week for free, I would really think twice before I took it.
Venezuela is also country with a lot of tension at the moment. Westerners (especially "gringos") are not entirely welcome. CCS and surroundings are very dangerous, murder, robbery, and express kidnappings are common. Flights from the USA land at night so there is no chance for a connection until the morning. CCS itself is an hour away by car, and the hotels near the airport (Maiquetia, outside Caracas) are expensive. I wouldn't park myself at the airport overnight either, it just isn't very pleasant. If you do, have eyes on the back of your head, and remember to bring your own toliet paper!
There is a hefty exit tax to leave the country ($60), they have been known to try to collect it (unoffically) again, even though it is already in your ticket.
Good luck to all!
esofina's post says it all. Watch out, folks...Margarita is not Oahu. For those of you thinking that any Venezuelan hotel will honor a VEB 70/night rate, keep drinking that Kool-Aid.
