That wasn't a smart thing to do. By attempting to re-confirm a confirmation, you brought attention to both your reservation and the ongoing deal. The lesson we all should've learned from the Tokyo/Osaka fiasco is that you should never bring attention to the deal while it's still alive. The more people Expedia has to deal with, the more likely they will cave somewhere (in this case, they started out by saying only those with reservations in November will be honored, but expanded it later to those who had obtained confirmations after the rates had been pulled). It's actually in your favor to allow as many FT'ers to jump in as possible. Expedia doesn't give a rat's @$$ about quality customer service -- you need to maximize the complaints they receive in order to amplify your own. Please don't do this next time. Keep the FT spirit alive.
