I agree with exAC. Unless you have been authorized in writing to have access to your friend's Aeroplan account, no AE agent, SE or Elite, can do what you want them to do. How would you feel if you found your ticket had been cancelled by someone else who claimed to an SE agent that you didn't want to travel.
What I have seen done in he past is for the agent to do the rebook pending a confirmation call from the member themselves. Their answer to her was to tell her to call the elite desk because the member is E while she is SE. Nothing about not being the member herself.
And I fail to see why you should not be charged the cancellation fee for your ticket as you are not the person having jury duty, nor it appears, even a legal partner of the person.
So,if two people are travelling on a vacation together and one has a death in the family the other still has to pay the change fee. Jury duty is obligatory in our system and therefore AC should be benevelent in these cases. And BTW many many people are not married legally but are life partners.
