I have never been an AA elite. On UA, as an elite, i can use the priority checkin lines, get access to Economy Plus Seating, use my upgrade instruments to upgrade myself on legs etc. Of course there are elite level bonuses for RDM (redeemable miles) etc.
That's what i meant. So, if you are going to get any of these kind of benefits by flying a OneWorld carrier - that recognizes your AA elite status - and will give you a few extras, factor that in to your travel planning.
