I sure hope the rumor you heard was correct about a reintroduction of international first class.
Air France has a single row of six sleeper seats on its A340 aircraft, which is a perfect size. It would certainly seem to me to be a smart move for Delta if it wants to remain competitive internationally, as BA, Singapore, UA, AA, etc., keep upping the ante in First.
I would think that even if Delta sells only one seat up there and uses the rest for upgrades, the move would be worth it. Given that the BizElite seat pitch is 60 inches and a true sleeper first class seat only requires about 80-85 inches, you'd basically be giving up about one row of coach to convert one row of business elite into one row of First Class.
I just hope they bring back the caviar when they do it.
