I'm usually fairly successful at getting National rates to be the cheapest after discount codes, but on this one I'm having no luck. I'm trying to rent an ICAR at LAX in mid-December -- rent on Monday, return Friday evening, nothing special. Several other companies are offering $100 rentals. The best I can get out of National.com is $225.

Has anyone else had luck getting National to match the Thrifties and Enterprises of the world? I'd be willing to pay a small premium to take the business to National, but more than double is more than my employer will stomach!
