Just got off the phone. I was hesitant to call and thought about getting someone from work to write me a sick note, but decided to give honesty a shot. I am sick, but not so bad it would realistically prohibit travel.
Anyway, after talking to the f'ing computer, I got a CSR who pulled up my stuff. I told him I had just made a mistake in my haste to book, and planned to rebook with them for the right days (I do). He said that there were fees of up to $230 to change dates, but since I just did it this morning he would extend to me a one-time customer courtesy and cancel my reservation outright. He put me on hold and did that, then came back and said he would also refund the $30 or so I paid for the trip insurance, which is, according to the T&C of said insurance as I understand them, nonrefundable. Very good service, though I did have to ask him to repeat things, as I'm terrible with Indian accents over the phone. Travelocity customer service has improved dramatically since the early days. Makes today a much better day.
And thanks for the replies.
