Well, using search I've found another thread dealing with skipping the last leg of an itinerary, and the consensus is that checked bags will always end up in your final ticketed destination. Luckily I'll be packing mostly shorts and t-shirts so maybe I can cram a week's worth of clothes in a roll-aboard and backpack.
