Does CX want Passengers from China?

Hi, guys. I was thinking other day. CX has flights from Beijing and Xiamen to Hong Kong, does that mean CX wants passengers from China? Like to have Chinese passengers to have stop over in Hong Kong then contect with other CX flights to other international destination? Do Chinese passengers actually fly to other international destination via Hong Kong? When I was in Hong Kong Airport I saw there were heaps Chinese passengers out there. But isn't easier fly to other international destination from Beijing, Shanghai or other Chinese airports? For myself, coz I normally fly between New Zealand and China, however, there are no direct flights between New Zealand and China yet, so I have to have a stop over in Hong Kong or other Asian cities then fly to China. I've been told by some friends, Air New Zealand will have direct flights between Shanghai and Auckland next year. Then I won't fly to Hong Kong anymore, it's just not that easy I think. Do you guys have any thoughts?

Cheers
