I can give you some first hand advice about getting NW WBC awards to Asia with AS miles. It's very, very tough, almost impossible to get two on the same flight.

I am a MVP Gold as well as a NW Plat and so I was able this fall to look simultaneously at inventory available to NW Plats using NW miles (not bad, you could actually find 2 seats with a couple months planning) vs. inventory available to AS (Nada, nothing). I was interested in this b/c it would have taken 120k of my NW miles per ticket but only 90k miles per ticket if I could use AS miles. Obviously, a savings of 60k for the two tickets would have been the way to go. I was looking over a broad span of a couple of months, knew all the NW gateway cities to try, etc and couldnt find two tickets using AS miles. I wound up using my NW miles for these tickets and actually found several routings (PDX, SEA, SFO and LAX) where 2 seats were available in WBC. Bottom line, the inventory that AS gets to pick from is very small!

The partner desk ultimately said that 2 NW WBC seats to Asia are almost impossible to get, but they did tell me that Cathay business is a bit easier (but apparently Cathay F is hard to get more than one seat at a time).

Good luck! My suggestion is to get well versed in the NW and Cathay gateway cities from NAmerica so that you can confirm the partner desk is exhausting all options.
