This is a fairly accurate article - at least for US flag carriers. I recall Air France sets up bottled water for pax in Y to help themselves to throughout the flight. There's plenty to go around.

On the other hand, I recall seeing F/As fill up bottles from the tap on UA flights in Business.

I just bring my own.
