I've been detained several times in my travels to Israel. Many cases of not being let in the country and waiting at border control for hours on end (very thankful to the American Embassy for sorting these occasions out) and many cases of being held up while trying to leave the country (I especially enjoy having my own personal security escort for the 5-6 hours from when I enter the airport to the time I get on the plane). My mother is an Israeli Christian and I look quite Arabic (tall, dark complexion, incredibly good looking), so this comes as no surprise (for me or almost all others that are like me).
