DELTA WILL PLACE ITS FIRST INTERNATIONAL BOEING 737-800 ON
ITS DAILY NONSTOP SERVICE TO GUATEMALA

05 Apr 1999

ATLANTA, GA, April 5, 1999 -- Delta Air Lines introduced its new
Boeing 737-800 aircraft on its daily, nonstop flight between Atlanta and
Guatemala on Sunday, April 4.

In making the announcement, Rudi Forster, Delta’s Managing
Director for Latin America, said, “We ordered the new Boeing 737-800
with Central America routes in mind. That decision was made even before
service began to those markets a year ago.

“The Boeing 737-800 is a newer, state-of-the-art aircraft with
many additional comforts that travelers to and from designated Latin
American markets can enjoy, including newly designed business-class
seats with footrests, as well as larger overhead compartments for carry-
on baggage,” Forster added.

“The use of a brand-new aircraft in Latin America underlines
Delta’s strong commitment to success in the market. The Boeing 737-800
is the perfect aircraft for shorter international flights, such as
Delta’s flight from Atlanta to Guatemala City,” Forster added.

The Boeing 737-800 carries 154 passengers in a two-class
configuration: business and coach class. The aircraft is powered by two
CFM56-7B engines and is equipped with a new wing design which gives it a
higher cruising speed than any earlier Boeing 737 model. Boeing 737-800
aircraft will eventually be used on all Delta flights between the U.S.
and Central America, as well as the carrier’s daily, nonstop flight from
Atlanta to Caracas, Venezuela.

Delta, named Airline of the Year, by Air Transport World magazine,
is the world’s most flown airline. More than 105 million passengers
traveled on Delta in 1998. Delta, Delta Express, the Delta Shuttle, the
Delta Connection carriers and Delta’s Worldwide Partners operate more
than 5,316 to 352 cities and throughout 58 different countries.
