I have to disagree, not with the fact the he spoiled the deal for most as I don't think that had any bearing on Expedia/Hilton's decision on how to really f**k this up, but the fact that he was naive. It was pretty obvious right from the start that he was only after one thing = $$$. Once he made the reses, the only thing he was concerned about was: the Coupon Connection, posting to trade rooms for first/business class tickets or any other considerations.
I've been around here for years with thousands of helpful posts as well as participating in some of the "mistake" deals. Not once did it ever cross my mind to book a full year at each hotel. I booked what I thought would be the norm for me, if I decided to visit Japan, 4 nights at each hotel.
Perhaps that's why I still have a valid, confirmed reservations at both hotels.
