That sure is a strange way to approach life, IMHO.
The analogy is missing a few steps. It would be like the restaurant accidentally gave you a $3 bill when the tab is $300. You questioned the $3 charge and were reassured that while it was a mistake, the restaurant is standing by its waiter's error and you owe no more. A few days later, you're at home and the restaurant owner bangs on your door demanding that you pay the rest back OR buy him new food to reimburse him for the food you ate. While he's there, though, he'd like to extend a special invitation to you to add dessert to your original meal. Yeah, that's a little closer to what actually happened if we have to put it in an analogy.
