I think that this sucks for everyone on here, including Expedia and Hilton and if they were smart when they realized the mistake on Saturday a company wide email should have gone out saying ANYONE asking about itineraries booked at the Hilton Tokyo/Osaka should get an email back saying we cannot reconfirm at this time as we are looking into the situation and a pricing error might have occured. This didn't happen, and partly because they have that 4 hour rule to get back to people, there was probably a rush to respond in a timely manner OR someone up top dropped the ball because it happened on a Saturday.
Will I book with Expedia again... maybe, but if I do book do you think that I will immediately send an email to ask them if they are planning on honouring it.. well YOU BET!
Actually, as soon as they realized the error, they should have e-mailed all who booked that rate saying that a pricing error might have occurred, that they might not be able to honor that rate, do not rely on this booking until further word from us. I don't think the ball was dropped because this happened on a Saturday. I've been called in to work by my employer on a Saturday for a lot less.
