Missing credits, lost boarding pass and eticket from another carrier!
I recently purchased a ticket from United Airlines to fly from Hong Kong to Toronto via San Francisco. I had them put my Aeroplan number on the ticket.
Upon arriving at the airport, I was told the United flight was oversold, and asked if I would mind flying Air Canada via Vancouver, which would arrive 30 minutes earlier. Get home earlier and no U.S. customs, I said sure!
I now have the Vancouver - Toronto segment of the flight credited to my Air Canada account, but not the Hong Kong - Vancouver segment. Of course, I lost my boarding pass. I do have the eticket (from United showing the original Hong Kong - San Francisco - Toronto routing) and my baggage tags showing the AC flight numbers.
I tried calling Air Canada, but the agent told me that they can't bring up the eticket because it is a United eticket. She further told me that the luggage tags were not sufficent proof for getting a mileage credit.
Anyone ever been in a similar situation? How can I resolve this?
Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks,
Greg
