Our family members made these reservations over two months ago, and just today we get a message from the hotel that they have cancelled our reservations because they need them for workers. We are suppose to be there in 2 weeks, so it is impossible to get reservations anywhere else. When I called customer service, they said that they had a right to do that and I should understand (no I don't, not waiting until now to do this without even the courtesy of talking to us). They offered, however, us rooms at another hotel in a much less convenient hotel at a price that is exactly $113 more per night per room than our previous reservations (we are left in a position of having to accept this offer since rooms are not available anywhere now). So in the deal, they are making a huge additional profit from us.

Do we have any recourse? How do I get a hold of someone at marriott that might actually help us?
Hotel space in Baton Rouge is so tight these days that the football teams that come in to play LSU fly in just before the game and fly home right after the game.

Normally, they would fly in the day before.

My recommendation is to try to find a different location for your reunion.... you've still got time.
