If you won't be flying Northwest that often next year, what good is it to spend the money to acheive status? Sure, upgrades, status and preboarding are great, but only when they're used the extent that they should be.
And if the OP is flying NW next year, why not fly hard in Jan and Feb and qualify for the next 2 years, instead of doing it in the next 2 months and having the staus end in Feb 2007, instead of Feb 2008?
