I know this doesn't exactly fit, but an acqauintence was detained at TLV for some time when arriving with us for a year-long volunteer program. There were 100 of us with him, and we were forced to wait for a very long time until they released him.

He has a Hebrew name, and though born in the US was born to an Israeli father. Given his age at the time, the government was suspicous that he might be trying to avoid the Israeli draft. After some intervention by a benefactor of the program who also held a very high position in the military, they let him go.
